At the opening gathering, General Minister and President, Rev. Terri Hord Owens presented the State of the Church. Events Event Calendar Advertising Resources   Christian Leaders from national Christian organizations and prominent churches sent a letter to the White House and Congress to call for action against Racism and Poverty. The letter begins, "As leaders from diverse segments of U.S. Christianity, we are called by the Spirit to work together with new urgency against racism and poverty in America. Racism and poverty have increased over the last couple of years, and God is calling us to respond." Several Disciples have signed on to this important document.
