Rev. Terri Hord Owens, General Minister and President, along with Christian pastors, theologians, and scholars attending Yale Divinity School’s first Public Theology and Public Policy Conference, is an original signatory on the New Haven Declaration. This Declaration commits the signers to preaching on “moral issues” and opposing “religious nationalism.” Bishop Barber II and signees further reflect, "These are the “weightier matters of the law,” and we refuse to be distracted by manufactured controversy about minor issues, even where we honestly disagree."

When it comes to church, we have a lot of negative tapes playing in our heads. “Church is judgmental.” “Church is hypocritical.” “They think they’re better than everyone else.” But now’s the time for restoration.

Rewind the tape by participating in the Pentecost Offering. Your gifts support local emerging congregations and New Church Ministry, which trains, equips, assists, and multiplies these communities and their leaders.

The theme for this Convocation, inspired by 2 Corinthians 5:17 - “So if anyone is in Christ, there is a new creation: everything old has passed away; see, everything has become new!” - is “Revive and Renew.” This theme invites Disciples to a transformative and transcendent faith experience in individual and
