Dear Vitus,
We celebrated the birth of Jesus and re-claimed the gifts of Christmas - hope, peace, joy, and love - in our local congregations and throughout the world this week. As 2023 comes to an end, I am deeply grateful for the contributions you and your congregations make to Disciples Mission Fund. DMF, our mission fund, transforms lives and makes ministry happen.
As the body of Christ, this year we:
· Gathered in person at General Assembly for the first time in four years, providing reunion, connection, and worshipful work.
· Celebrated regional ministry that helps congregations and pastors discern and discover each other so that vital ministries can continue and begin.
· Supported hospital and military chaplains that offered comfort and hope as they cared for patients, healthcare workers, and soldiers and civilians impacted by war throughout the world.
· Witnessed food pantries, housing ministries, and social service agencies work faithfully to serve their neighbors and communities in challenging times.
· Accompanied mission co-workers around the world in partnership with global ministry partners in work and care for local communities. · Put faith into action by opposing Christian Nationalism and the way it misrepresents the gospel of Jesus Christ.
· Re-elected Rev. Teresa Hord Owens as General Minister and President, and affirmed our commitment to love and unity across the church and the world. |
