    A special assembly of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in the Northern Lights Region meeting Saturday, December 9, unanimously voted to call the Reverend Paul Allen IV to be its next Regional Minister-President. As the newest region in the church, the Northern Lights Region is excited to welcome Paul to leadership as we continue to live into who God is calling us to become, supporting pastors and congregations as we strive to faithfully answer God’s call to ministry as we do together that which we cannot do apart.

    The Office of the General Minister and President is pleased to announce the launch of a new program of the Proclamation Project: cohort groups for preachers, starting in early 2024. These groups will provide an opportunity for Disciples preachers to connect with other preachers on a regular basis, support each other, and grow in their own preaching.

     

    There will be three types of cohort groups offered in this cycle, each with a different focus and commitment level. Applications are open now and are due January 20, 2024.

    The Covenant Project began in prayer and consultation across the church and continues with an update on important leadership developments related to the governance of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). From 2019 to 2023, Rev. Bill Rose-Heim served as Chair of the Governance Committee with passion and vision. Rev. Bill Spangler Dunning has recently been invited to serve as Chair of the Governance Committee and has accepted the call to serve. In light of the adoption of GA-2343, Rev. Dr. Belva Brown Jordan, immediate past Moderator, was invited and graciously accepted the call to serve as the Chair of the Implementation Team.
