To many of us, summer is a time with a different pace. Enjoying the outdoors. Exploring other cities. Visiting out-of-town family and friends. Taking a vacation at a cottage.

While you are taking a break from your routines, did you know that if you are a digital subscriber you can still have Reformed Worship available at your fingertips? Digital subscribers can access the RW library (from Issue 120 onward) at tinyurl.com/RWLibrary. Here, you can find more than five years of issues in a "flip" format, which is an exact replica of the print edition. In addition, you can use the content view to search for keywords, copy-and-paste contents for worship services, and even listen to the articles while you drive (or relax by the lakeside)!

To start your subscription today, click here. For print-only subscribers, it only costs an extra $5 per year to make your RW portable. Contact us for more information.

Locating Your Place in God's Story

Summer is a great time for stories—reading books and hearing people's stories as we connect with family and friends on vacation. Here is a short, three-week summer worship series that centers around Jesus' story in the gospels and how it intersects with our own stories.

I Believe: A Service on the Apostles' Creed Led by children

Why not engage the children to lead a summer worship service that is based on the Apostle's Creed?

How to...Plan Worship for a Family Reunion

    • Submit your resource or article: One of the great things about RW is that the resources come from you, our readership. We are currently planning next year's Lent and Easter issue. Did you or someone you know create a particularly meaningful service, prayer, or litany for that season? Consider sharing that blessing with the larger RW community. Instructions for submitting resources and articles.
    • NEW! Lectionary Resources from Reformed Worship Does your congregation make use of the Revised Common Lectionary? Have you wondered if Reformed Worship had resources for you? We certainly do! Check out this chart for Year B resources for summer and early fall (Ordinary Time).
    • "Stand Firm" Sprint Dean Heetderks, art director for Reformed Worship, shares his experience in "design sprints" based on a word or phrase from the Bible. What design ideas can you associate with for your thematic worship planning? (You will want to see Dean's design drawings on the "flip" version of RW 139 at tinyurl.com/RWLibrary!)
    • A Summertime Thanksgiving: Celebrating the Gifts of the Garden Invite your congregation to bring in garden produce and flowers, and arrange these gifts in front of church right before the service to celebrate God's faithfulness and provision.

    Rivers of Song

    By Kathryn Ritsema Roelofs

The image of various streams feeding into a larger body of water sparked an idea that turned into a worship series. The people's "heart songs" became the voice of the congregation.

Using The Worship Sourcebook: Practicing the Work of the People

    By Rebecca Hall

The Worship Sourcebook is valuable as a teaching tool to expand our concept of worship's purpose. Underlying all our worship is a rhythm of call and response and the understanding that worship is the work of all the people, not just those leading us.
