    The State of the Church 2026 address from General Minister and President, Rev. Terri Hord Owens. In this address, she reflects on the ministry priorities, spaces of vitality and vision in our congregations, and our “growing edges” as a church. This is a special edition of the address that was given at the Spring General Board meeting in Indianapolis, Indiana in April.

    The Office of the General Minister and President is pleased to announce Rev. Nancy Brink as a Dedicated Disciple. Brink, who serves as Executive Director of the Fish Interfaith Center at Chapman University, is recognized for her decades of faithful service to the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) and her enduring commitment to pastoral care, ecumenical partnership, and higher education ministry.

    Phillips Theological Seminary announces the addition of two scholars to its faculty in the 2026-27 academic year. The Rev. Dr. S. Helen Chukka is joining the faculty as Assistant Professor of Hebrew Bible. She is currently Assistant Professor of Hebrew Bible at Wartburg Theological Seminary. Dr. Hannah Stork, who completed her PhD at Yale University this year, comes to Phillips as Assistant Professor of the History(ies) of Global Christianity(ies).

    Green Chalice Announces 2026 Justice and Creation Summer Fellows. This summer, the Spirit is moving in gardens, campgrounds, urban neighborhoods, and congregations across the country. Green Chalice and Disciples Home Missions are excited to announce the 2026 Justice and Creation Summer Fellowship cohort — twelve ministry sites and their fellows who will spend the summer growing creation care, climate justice, and love of neighbor in their communities.
