BRINGING YOU RELEVANT INSPIRATION, RIGHT FOR THIS MOMENT

    March 2025

Whether you plan or lead worship, play an instrument, sing, or preach, you have been given a holy calling. At times that calling may seem a bit mundane—yet another Lent, another rehearsal, another sermon. But your calling is so much more than simply preparing for the next worship service. You are forming faith of those who gather and shaping the way they look at the world. In worship, the songs chosen, the words preached, and the prayers offered can help God's people articulate their laments and praises, give them courage, or lead them to despair. The prayers you offer in worship teach congregants how to pray and what to pray for, and what we don't mention in prayer speaks volumes as well.

As we lead God's people through the Lenten wilderness, may we provide them with the words needed to make sense of this world. May our prayers teach us who our neighbor is and remind us to pray for the flourishing even of those who we may call our enemy. May our preaching always point to Christ and the hope of the resurrection.

    Jesus Is Greater
A Lenten Series Based on the Book of Hebrews

This Lenten series attempts to follow the pattern of Hebrews, showing how Jesus is greater than angels, Moses, chief priests, and sacrifice. Since Jesus is "greater than," we respond with faith and run with perseverance and discipline. We summarized this movement with these symbols: Jesus is greater than (>), therefore (∴).

    A Table in the Wilderness
A Lenten Worship Series Focusing on God's Care and Provision

Modeled after Jesus' forty days in the wilderness, Lent is a time to become more open to God through the vulnerabilities of life. It comes with an especially poignant invitation to join with others in bringing our doubts, fears, sorrows, loneliness, and dryness before God, hoping to taste God's promised provision in the deserts of life. This series highlights one biblical character each week. It can also be used in conjunction with "Journey in the Wilderness": outdoor prayer path described in the next column.

    Journey in the Wilderness
    An Outdoor Prayer Path

How do we journey through the wilderness of our current contexts, and what can we learn from individuals throughout scripture who found themselves in the literal wilderness?

This "Journey in the Wilderness" prayer path with stations can be done whatever your Lenten worship plans are, but it originated in conjunction with the worship series "A Table in the Wilderness" described in the previous column.
