Dear Vitus
It is a great pleasure to share the eighth edition of PwC's VAT in Africa Guide. This edition has been compiled by our indirect tax experts across 41 African countries.
This publication is geared towards sharing up-to-date tax knowledge with you as our client based on the constantly changing tax environment that has a significant impact on business operations. As many of our economies are emerging from the global pandemic, we acknowledge and applaud efforts made to make repairs and even soar to greater heights. It is for this reason that our eighth edition reads 'Africa Re-emerging'.
This analysis has highlighted endeavours by many revenue authorities working collaboratively with other Government agencies and the private sector in a bid to sustain economic restoration. Many governments have taken a keen eye on indirect taxes as part of revenue mobilisation initiatives such as the operationalisation of dormant sections of the law, the introduction of digital taxes, and the tightening of compliance measures through fiscal electronic systems — among many others. We hope that you find our analysis insightful, timely and a tool that will offer guidance on your Value Added Tax (VAT) and other pertinent indirect tax matters. |
