Africa Energy Review 2021: A future-fit energy transition | |
|
|
Dear Subscriber As the world accelerates the drive to achieve net zero by mid century, increasing pressure is being put on cutting the supply side of fossil fuels, in addition to renewable technologies shifting the demand side. Africa still has abundant untapped fossil fuel reserves and a desperate need to generate revenue through the exploitation of such reserves. Without the internal fiscal strength, Africa is reliant on international finance to develop such reserves. However, prompted by global climate change policy, investors are rapidly turning their backs on new fossil fuel investments. Will this leave Africa’s reserves and fossil fuel exporting economies stranded? We explore Africa’s evolving energy landscape and outline scenarios for the role of fossil fuels in the continent’s energy transition towards net zero. Join Andries Rossouw, PwC Africa Energy Utilities and Resources Leader, and James Mackay, Strategy & Africa South Market Lead - Energy, as they discuss the highlights of the inaugural edition of PwC Africa’s Energy Review 2021 (previously known as the PwC Africa Oil and Gas Review) titled Africa Energy Review: A future-fit energy transition. |
