    Stop. Look. Listen. And wonder.

Nature, and even our everyday life, reflect God's might, beauty . . . and surprise, "The faith practice of wonder helps us glimpse with surprise just how creative, faithful, good, big, and present God is," says Chris Schoon, director of Faith Formation Ministries at the CRCNA. As we slow down and rest over the summer season, let us not forget to wonder. Peot, musician, and RW writer Susan Palo Cherwien puts it aptly, "Wonder is at the root of praise" (RW 97). In this issue of RW eNewsletter, we highlight several resources to help your congregation look, listen, and wonder.

The print June issue of RW is on its way if you have not received it already. Digital subscribers can access the RW library at tinyurl.com/RWLibrary. If you are not yet a subscriber, click here to start your subscription today.

A Guided Walk of Gratitude: Based on Philippians 4

Spend some time in thoughtfulness. Soak in the beauty of nature. Observe, Slow down. Play. Use the exercise, or improvise, to enjoy the beauty of creation and to give expression to your gratitude.

Worship Is . . .: What Children Say about "Children and Worship"

Wondering is an essential part of Children and Worship. It encourages children to stand in awe before God and to recognize God's wisdom and knowledge. Through wondering, children learn that it's acceptable to think about big questions that are not easily answered.

Let All the Earth Worship the Lord

Since God is the Creator of all beauty, we should gladly adorn our churches with creation's colors and textures. The symbols, vessels, banners, colors, lights, and sounds that we bring into God's house—all these can praise God.

    • Submit your resource or article: One of the great things about RW is that the resources come from you, our readership. We are currently planning next year's Lent and Easter issue. Did you or someone you know create a particularly meaningful service, prayer, or litany for that season? Consider sharing that blessing with the larger RW community. Instructions for submitting resources and articles.
    • NEW! Lectionary Resources from Reformed Worship Does your congregation make use of the Revised Common Lectionary? Have you wondered if Reformed Worship had resources for you? We certainly do! Check out this chart for Year B resources for the season after Pentecost (Ordinary Time).
    • "Oh, Look and Wonder" Based on Psalm 133 and found in Lift Up Your Hearts #260 (and 23 other hymnals including Glory to God and Psalms for All Seasons) this Spanish and English hymn encourages us to wonder about the blessing of dwelling together in unity.
    • Call to Worship Revisited and Ordinary Time In this Q&A column, John D. Witvliet suggests that the color for the season may be chosen to genuinely reflect the themes of the service and evoke a deeper level of participation.

    Wonder

    By Paul E. Detterman

So many wonders if we will only have the sense to wonder—if we will only stand still in the cold night of our earthly existence and notice the way that even the feeble lights of earth electrify the shimmer of God's out-of-season surprises.

    Epiclesis and Loving Communion

    By Kevin Adams

We love weekly communion. And we love how the Epiclesis reminds us of our dependence on the Holy Spirit.

    Rest

    By Josh Friend

Rest was made for man. God's greatest creation is rest. So go. Go to him. All who are weary. All who are heavy laden and He will give you rest.
