Maybe you have been planning for Advent and Christmas since August. Or maybe you haven't started yet. Wherever you find yourself in the planning process, we hope that the resources at ReformedWorship.org continue to be helpful. With the new website it is even easier to narrow down search results to find Advent resources related to a particular scripture text, a prayer of confession on a particular theme, or review all Advent resources that have litanies for the lighting of the advent candles.

While we can support you with resources, we can't help you with the busyness of the season. So before it sweeps you up, take time to plan for how you are going to take care of yourself. Block out time on your calendar for whatever it is that gives you life and renews your energy. Another great activity is to set aside your leadership role and take time to read the texts of the services from beginning to end, including the litanies, songs, prayers, and scripture. Read them devotionally as your act of worship. Attune your heart to what the Holy Spirit might be saying to you through them.

    Wisdom for Worship Leaders

In this article, worship leader and pastor, Chris Walker highlights the necessity for worship leaders to find Sabbath rest which does not involve a pressure to produce. At the end of this article, you will find a list of suggestions from other worship leaders for finding rest and spiritual nourishment that were gleaned from one of our questions of the month.

    Question of the Month

What Advent or Christmas song are you introducing to your worshiping community this year? (It doesn't need to be newly written, just new to your community.) A summary of the answers will appear in online.

Last month we asked, when you think about your role as worship leader, planner, or pastor, what makes you grateful? The answers revolved around supportive congregations and amazing volunteers.
