But the congregation knew this land was meant to serve the community, not just church members. 30 years later, it's now the site of a proposed development that will offer affordable housing and childcare to low-income residents and adults with disabilities, thanks to partnerships with faith-based organizations such as Disciples Church Extension Fund.
