As I write this, I’m in Oregon today to participate in a pastoral transition at East Hill (Gresham Foursquare Church) in Gresham. Keith and Coco Jenkins, who previously served with Randy Remington at Beaverton Foursquare Church, will now shepherd this community in Gresham. Jason Albelo, former East Hill senior pastor, and his wife, Nikki, are in transition as they continue to serve the district and seek the Lord’s direction for their future. This church, formerly pastored by Ted and Diane Roberts, is a legendary resource church that took off under Jerry and Barbara Cook, and has never looked back. Transitions always happen. It’s how they happen that sets them up for success or failure. Two words that have been given to me to focus on for my presentation for East Hill have to do with “honor” and “hope.” The assignment was to share something around these two themes: “Honor the Past” and “Hope for the Future.” My thoughts are simple. An honoring culture means you celebrate what God has done. You respect what God has said. Then a hope culture believes in who God is, and you trust where God is going. Dick Scott prayed over Randy + Sandy Remington during their final Sunday at Beaverton Foursquare. There is a legacy of past presidents, all of whom have contributed to Foursquare’s culture and mission. Debbie and I feel privileged to have been given the opportunity to build on what was done and add a small part to our movement’s future. We regularly remind ourselves we are living in a house we didn’t build and eating from vines we didn’t plant. Now Randy Remington will lead us into the future. We honor Randy and Sandy, and we are filled with hope concerning their vision for our movement. We are praying for them daily. Randy is visiting several district conferences this fall. We are witnessing a fresh anointing, favor and discernment being poured over them by the Lord. These will be great days for the kingdom and for our family. Transitions happen whether we plan for them or not. Let’s be intentional and give the Holy Spirit willing vessels to flow through, to make God known everywhere, so that the deep despair in our world turns to fresh hope in Jesus Christ. This will be Foursquare’s finest hour! (1 Cor. 3:6-9 ) Here are some key dates in November and December. Many of these President-Elect Randy Remington will be participating in. Randy will become president on Sept. 1, 2020.NOVEMBER DECEMBER Each month President Glenn Burris Jr. will offer some recommended resources that have inspired him. Check them out here:
